Grab a copy of your local Nevada Appeal in Carson City for great news about efforts to plant 10,000 trees within 5 years with help from grants like this one received from the Nevada Division of Forestry and Susan Stead and her staff.
Thirty Cottonwood trees were planted on November 5th in the Fulstone Wetlands; which is right across the street from the Boys and Girls Club of Carson City, backing up to the freeway, it's a perfect location for the native Cottonwood.
Location and design plans began first along the Carson City bike path, for those that have never tried the bike path it's a convenient way to travel for all ages.
In speaking with the Carson City Parks and Recreation Deptartment staff it was determined the grant could allow 30 Cottonwood saplings which are perfect for the wetlands and welcomed by the City, planted November 5, 2011. Joining with middle school teacher Jenny Kilgore and several honor students.
It was a cold Saturday morning but it was alot of fun for everyone. We can all keep an eye on the trees throughout the years.

The Cottonwood saplings only stand about 2 feet tall - the girls are marking the height with their hands hovering about the tree. By the time these kids graduate college, our tree expert said they could be 15-18 feet tall. We hope all 30 trees survive!
